Clare is a Cystic Fibrosis Specialist Dietitian. She looks after the nutritional needs of all the patients with Cystic Fibrosis at Alder Hey and alongside our CF Network Dietetic partners within the Cheshire and Mersey CF Network. For patients with Cystic Fibrosis, good nutrition is an important part of their medical care as good nutrition and healthy body weight is directly linked to better lung function and reduced infections. Some people with CF have problems digesting food and can also develop CF Diabetes. The CF Dietitians work hard to ensure that they have tailored advice based on individual’s requirements.
Clare is also a respiratory specialist and is vital part of the multi-disciplinary teams for the Interstitial lung disease, Bronchopulmonary dysplasia and Congenital diaphragmatic hernia clinics which are unique to Alder Hey. Clare is a co-author on two recent publications ‘Managing cystic fibrosis in the neonatal period’ and ‘Respiratory diseases of the newborn infant’.
Clare is an active member of the UK CF Dietitians group and regularly present locally and within the UK and Europe at our European CF conferences.
